St. Boniface is blessed to have many retired clergy as parishioners. Their knowledge and talents enrich our parish and complement our clergy. It is a honor that clergy with many options choose from, choose St. Boniface as their church home.
Boniface Rector 1991-2011, Ted retired to interim ministry and coaching congregations. He served the church in Connecticut and Chicago as priest, school chaplain and seminary professor. He also worked in Central America and South Africa. He and Judy love best to travel and visit grandchildren.
Ordained in 1982, Reid served parishes in Punta Gorda and Gainesville before being called to St. Boniface. He was Associate Rector there for 11 years, then served parishes in College Hill/Cincinnati, OH; Mamaroneck, NY; Southgate, MI; and Swanton, VT. Throughout his ministry, though, St. Boniface has been his spiritual home. He finds a deep sense of peace, healing, and strength that comes from the Presence of the Love and Spirit of God that is alive and well in that community of faith.

He generally attends the 8:00am Eucharists as after the Bible Study at 9:00am he is off to do rounds. He loves music and generally sings with Welsh gusto. He brings his fascination for languages to class and pulpit looking at the nuances of Hebrew and Greek and ever changing meaning of modern English. He was trained as a teacher at IU, continues in differing environments to teach and hopes that the Sunday morning classes are helping members of St Boniface to live out the vision and mission of the congregation.

Ernie has found a spiritual home at St. Boniface because of the inspiring worship coupled with a loving congregation of faithful people dedicated to Jesus' values. He especially appreciates the Sunday Book Group (it should be called the open-minded spiritual seekers) and the wonderful music program. He volunteers at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, continues to hone his tennis skills and enjoys traveling and meeting new people.

From a curiosity and attraction to God and the Church that began in high school, through 36 years of parish ministry, he has enjoyed the avalanche of blessings that life in His Service brings. Here at St. Boniface, with its welcoming and open posture, he shares these blessings with the people of this parish and his fellow clergy, who are so helpful in so many ways. While on the “retired” list, he has also served in the Diocese of SW Florida as Priest in Charge at S. Bede’s, St. Petersburg (3 years) and Holy Spirit, Osprey (3 months).

He directs the Center for Spiritual Transformation, the Contemplative Prayer Group, the Taizé Service, offers spiritual direction, and preaches occasionally.
His wife Rita and he were attracted to and are nourished by St. Boniface for two primary reasons. This is a faith community that has “heart” and is “inclusive.” The people are welcoming and warm, open to get to know us and to share their faith journey with us. They accept people who come from different perspectives and ideologies as well as sexual preferences and gender orientations. They follow Jesus and his command to love everyone.
Vocational Career and present involvement at St. Boniface As a Masters level Social Worker, I served as director of a Family Counseling Center and in private practice in Long Island. As Parish Priest I served in the Coal Fields of West Virginia, Bermuda, Japan and short assignments in South Sudan and Venezuela. Presently I am organizing an Inter-racial Pilgrimage to Montgomery. (My second love is the piano, having majored in Piano Performance before seminary.) Maria and I were attracted to St. Boniface by it’s commitment to the social implications of the gospel, and it’s diverse opportunities for spiritual development.
Now retired, The Rev Pamela Foster (Pam) served as a member of clergy staffs in Pittsburgh, Pa., Alexandria, Va., and Boston, Ma.. Prior to the years in parish ministry, she was a hospital chaplain.

Johnston and his late wife Sally became winter residents of Sarasota in 2013 and found a welcome at St. Boniface. His parents Betty and Dwight Parker were members of St. Boniface from 1972 to 1997. Moreover, he and Ted Copland started their ministries in neighboring towns and knew each other pretty well. Steve and his wife Jeanie celebrate St. Boniface as an open, Christ-centered, inclusive parish that seeks justice and offers forgiveness and God's grace each and every week. We are grateful to be here.
