Education for Ministry
E.F.M. functions as a seminar with assigned readings. The entire program is four years, but participants are asked to commit to only one year at a time. The meetings are weekly – usually Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. – from mid-September through May.
There are four content years: Hebrew scriptures; New Testament; church history; and theology, ethics, interfaith encounters.
There are four thematic years: Living faithfully in your world; Living faithfully in a multicultural world; Living as spiritually mature Christians; Living into the journey with God.
Each participant completes a spiritual autobiography (each year) and reads two “interlude” texts (in addition to the regular reading).
Please note that a new director begins this summer in Sewanee, Rev. Kevin Goodman: changes could occur.
