Last Friday Lunch at The Rez!

Resurrection House is a day resource center for the local homeless community, centrally located in downtown Sarasota, and offers a variety of basic services, including showers, laundry and breakfast (weekdays). Counselors are also available to assist clients in need of replacement ID's, birth certificates, and bus passes, and can help direct them to essential job and government resources, as well as substance abuse programs. Many volunteer opportunities are available, contact Reg Irvine for more information.

Last Friday Lunch at The Rez!

Choose your Friday and sign up today for Last Friday Lunch at the Rez! For the first time since the pandemic Resurrection House is open 5 days a week. But they need help preparing and serving a hot lunch on Fridays. St. Boniface is joining other area churches in responding to this need. This is a great opportunity for service and fellowship.

How it works:

Two weeks before the planned meal, a team member must call Kitchen Manager Pete Wallace at 941-316-0925 to tell him what we plan to serve. We can arrive any time before noon depending on how much prep is needed. Resurrection House’s kitchen is available to us if needed to prepare the meal if cooking is required. It sounds like most churches are purchasing ready-made food trays and just heating and serving. We will be responsible for cleaning up the kitchen, but clients clean up after themselves. We would prepare for 60-70 clients. Lunch is served exactly at noon and is finished in 20 minutes or so.

Resurrection House has a large kitchen with a closed window above a pass-through counter on one side. The serving trays and paper plates (provided) are lined up on the kitchen side of the pass-through. The clients line up close to noon, a prayer is usually provided by the chaplain, the windows are opened, and the serving begins.

Call Bob or Prill (numbers below) to volunteer!
