St. Boniface Peace Pole

A Peace Pole was dedicated on February 29, 2008, as a symbol of our commitment to work toward peace and justice for all peoples. We are reminded each time we see the Peace Pole to offer a prayer for world peace. The eight languages on the pole each say "May Peace prevail on earth", reminding us to send this wish to all countries with their individual languages.

Task Force on Gun Control

The St. Boniface Task Force on Gun Violence is the Sarasota County Chapter of the national Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. The primary objective is to make Sarasota County a successful model for reasonable gun control, which hopefully will inspire others in the state of Florida to form similar groups; and then to work cooperatively with each other to achieve mutual goals at the state and national level.

The group focuses in these areas:

Raise Public Awareness: St. Boniface members and other like-minded people build public awareness by witnessing at the Sarasota Bayfront each Thursday afternoon with printed signage.

Effect Public Policy: On occasion, the group focuses on public policy and politicians, to draw attention upon their commitment – or lack thereof, to creating reasonable gun control.

Street Ministry

Our street ministry began with the onset of the Pandemic, occurring on Mondays as Resurrection House, providing services for the homeless, is closed on Mondays. With the Godsend of benefactors from friends in the Meadows, very significant dollars were given to spur on the ministry as it developed outside of the Salvation Army. Now the initial money is mostly spent, and the ministry continues to give clothing, cold bottled water (bought in cases each week) and protein snacks, ministering to about 90 people each week. These homeless folks are among the poorest in our community, most of them sleeping on the street each night, and are afflicted with a variety of ills and conditions.

Monetary gifts to St. Boniface are needed to support this work. Also, donations of clothing, socks, sneakers, and street clothes are always welcome and may be left in the parish office.
